​Call for Participation
Interested participants should submit content related to the conference theme. This could include a position paper describing previous work, background, and interest in attending the workshop or a video/demo of an application that helps empower children with media. Position papers should be no longer than 3 printed pages and should be formatted according to the ACM SIGCHI publications format. Please email your submission in pdf format to Juan Rubio or Kori Inkpen. The workshop organizers will review the position papers for pertinence to the workshop theme, general interest and quality.

Intended Participants

Intended workshop participants include academics, industrial researchers, designers, practitioners, and teachers who actively work with children in the area of creating, sharing and communicating with media technologies.



Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

  • children's audio, video or textual communication with family members, friends or teachers
  • audio or video authoring for children
  • design issues for media tools
  • new technologies to enable rich communication
  • how media can impact children's role in society
  • how media can impact children's social relationships
  • children's creative uses of audio, video or text
  • mobile communication platforms for children

Expected Outcomes

There are several anticipated outcomes from this workshop:
